           FromthemomenttheywerealoneandNatáshacameuptohimwithwide-openhappyeyes,andquicklyseizinghisheadpressedittoherbosom,saying:“Nowyouareallmine,mine!Youwon’tescape!”—fromthatmomentthisconversationbegan,contrarytoallthelawsoflogicandcontrarytothembecausequitedifferentsubjectsweretalkedaboutatoneandthesametime.Thissimultaneousdiscussionofmanytopicsdidnotpreventaclearunderstandingbutonthecontrarywasthesurestsignthattheyfullyunderstoodoneanother.

           Justasinadreamwhenallisuncertain,unreasoning,andcontradictory,exceptthefeelingthatguidesthedream,sointhisintercoursecontrarytoalllawsofreason,thewordsthemselveswerenotconsecutiveandclearbutonlythefeelingthatpromptedthem.
