           OnthethirddayafterChristmasNicholasdinedathome,athinghehadrarelydoneoflate.Itwasagrandfarewelldinner,asheandDenísovwereleavingtojointheirregimentafterEpiphany.Abouttwentypeoplewerepresent,includingDólokhovandDenísov.
