           OnreachinghomePrinceAndrewdecidedtogotoPetersburgthatautumnandfoundallsortsofreasonsforthisdecision.AwholeseriesofsensibleandlogicalconsiderationsshowingittobeessentialforhimtogotoPetersburg,andeventore-entertheservice,keptspringingupinhismind.Hecouldnotnowunderstandhowhecouldeverevenhavedoubtedthenecessityoftakinganactiveshareinlife,justasamonthbeforehehadnotunderstoodhowtheideaofleavingthequietcountrycouldeverenterhishead.
