           Soonafterthis,ErmólovmoveduptoKutúzovandrespectfullyremarked:

           Kutúzovdidnotreply,butwhentheyreportedtohimthatMurat’stroopswereinretreatheorderedanadvance,thoughateveryhundredpaceshehaltedforthreequartersofanhour.

           ThewholebattleconsistedinwhatOrlóv-Denísov’sCossackshaddone:therestofthearmymerelylostsomehundredsofmenuselessly.
