           Toll,whointhisbattleplayedthepartofWeyrotheratAusterlitz,gallopedassiduouslyfromplacetoplace,findingeverythingupsidedowneverywhere.ThushestumbledonBagovút’scorpsinawoodwhenitwasalreadybroaddaylight,thoughthecorpsshouldlongbeforehavejoinedOrlóv-Denísov.Excitedandvexedbythefailureandsupposingthatsomeonemustberesponsibleforit,Tollgallopeduptothecommanderofthecorpsandbeganupbraidinghimseverely,sayingthatheoughttobeshot.GeneralBagovút,afightingoldsoldierofplacidtemperament,beingalsoupsetbyallthedelay,confusion,andcross-purposes,fellintoaragetoeverybody’ssurpriseandquitecontrarytohisusualcharacterandsaiddisagreeablethingstoToll.
