           “Ourplanisthis.Nowwe’redrivingtoGvozdyov.InGvozdyovthere’sagrousemarshonthisside,andbeyondGvozdyovcomesomemagnificentsnipemarsheswheretherearegrousetoo.It’shotnow,andwe’llgetthereit’sfifteenmilesorsotowardseveningandhavesomeeveningshooting;we’llspendthenightthereandgoontomorrowtothebiggermoors.”

           “Andistherenothingontheway?”

           “Yes;butwe’llreserveourselves;besidesit’shot.Therearetwonicelittleplaces,butIdoubttherebeinganythingtoshoot.”

           Levinwouldhimselfhavelikedtogointotheselittleplaces,buttheywerenearhome;hecouldshootthemoveranytime,andtheywereonlylittleplacestherewouldhardlyberoomforthreetoshoot.Andso,withsomeinsincerity,hesaidthathedoubtedtherebeinganythingtoshoot.WhentheyreachedalittlemarshLevinwouldhavedrivenby,butStepanArkadyevitch,withtheexperiencedeyeofasportsman,atoncedetectedreedsvisiblefromtheroad.
