           “There,yousee,you’retalkingnonsense,andhe’sathome!”respondedStepanArkadyevitch’svoice,addressingtheservant,whohadrefusedtolethimin,andtakingoffhiscoatashewent,Oblonskywalkedintotheroom.“Well,I’mawfullygladI’vefoundyou!SoIhope....”StepanArkadyevitchbegancheerfully.

           “Icannotcome,”AlexeyAlexandrovitchsaidcoldly,standingandnotaskinghisvisitortositdown.

           AlexeyAlexandrovitchhadthoughttopassatonceintothosefrigidrelationsinwhichheoughttostandwiththebrotherofawifeagainstwhomhewasbeginningasuitfordivorce.
