           Shewasstandingholdingherself,asalways,veryerect,andwhenKittydrewnearthegroupshewasspeakingtothemasterofthehouse,herheadslightlyturnedtowardshim.

           “No,Idon’tthrowstones,”shewassaying,inanswertosomething,“thoughIcan’tunderstandit,”shewenton,shrugginghershoulders,andsheturnedatoncewithasoftsmileofprotectiontowardsKitty.Withaflying,feminineglanceshescannedherattire,andmadeamovementofherhead,hardlyperceptible,butunderstoodbyKitty,signifyingapprovalofherdressandherlooks.“Youcameintotheroomdancing,”sheadded.

           “Why,haveyoumet?”inquiredtheirhost.
