           Thatheisanemigrantandnotoneoftheordinaryclassisevidencedinavarietyofways.ThetenlargewaggonsofPittsburghbuild,eachhauledbyeightable-bodiedmules;theirmiscellaneouscontents:plenteousprovisions,articlesofcostlyfurniture,evenofluxe,livestockintheshapeofcolouredwomenandchildren;thegroupsofblackandyellowbondsmen,walkingalongside,orstragglingfoot-soreintherear;thelighttravellingcarriageinthelead,drawnbyaspanofsleek-coatedKentuckymules,anddrivenbyablackJehu,swelteringinasuitoflivery;allbespeak,notapoorNorthern-Statessettlerinsearchofanewhome,butarichSouthernerwhohasalreadypurchasedone,andisonhiswaytotakepossessionofit.
