           Thensucceededpuffs,andwhirlinggusts,ofwindcoldasifprojectedfromcavesofice,andaccompaniedbyanoiseasthoughallthetrumpetsofAeoluswereannouncingtheadventoftheStorm-King!

           Inanotherinstantthenortherwasaroundthem;andthewaggontrain,haltedonasubtropicalplain,wasenvelopedinanatmosphere,akintothatwhichcongealstheicebergsoftheArcticOcean!

           Nothingmorewasseennothingheard,savethewhistlingofthewind,oritshoarseroaring,asitthunderedagainstthetiltsofthewaggons.Themuleshavinginstinctivelyturnedsterntowardsit,stoodsilentintheirtraces;andthevoicesofthetravellers,insolemnconverseinside,couldnotbedistinguishedamidthehowlingofthehurricane.
