           I’vealsobecomefriendswithacoolcouplenamedMariaandGiulio,introducedtomebymyfriendAnne-anAmericanpainterwholivedinRomeafewyearsback.MariaisfromAmerica,Giulio’sfromthesouthofItaly.He’safilmmaker,sheworksforaninternationalagriculturalpolicyorganization.Hedoesn’tspeakgreatEnglish,butshespeaksfluentItalian(andalsofluentFrenchandChinese,sothat’snotintimidating).GiuliowantstolearnEnglish,andaskedifhecouldpracticeconversingwithmeinanotherTandemExchange.
