           Oh!thegloryofthesuddenburstoflight;thefreshnessofthefieldsandwoods,stretchingawayoneveryside,andmeetingthebrightbluesky;thecattlegrazinginthepasturage;thesmoke,that,comingfromamongthetrees,seemedtoriseupwardfromthegreenearth;thechildrenyetattheirgambolsdownbelowall,everything,sobeautifulandhappy!Itwaslikepassingfromdeathtolife;itwasdrawingnearerHeaven.

           Thechildrenweregone,whensheemergedintotheporch,andlockedthedoor.Asshepassedtheschool-houseshecouldhearthebusyhumofvoices.Herfriendhadbegunhislaboursonlyonthatday.Thenoisegrewlouder,and,lookingback,shesawtheboyscometroopingoutanddispersethemselveswithmerryshoutsandplay.‘It’sagoodthing,’thoughtthechild,‘Iamverygladtheypassthechurch.’Andthenshestopped,tofancyhowthenoisewouldsoundinside,andhowgentlyitwouldseemtodieawayupontheear.
