           M.deTrevillesmiledatthisflourish;andleavinghisyoungmancompatriotintheembrasureofthewindow,wheretheyhadtalkedtogether,heseatedhimselfatatableinordertowritethepromisedletterofrecommendation.Whilehewasdoingthis,d’Artagnan,havingnobetteremployment,amusedhimselfwithbeatingamarchuponthewindowandwithlookingattheMusketeers,whowentaway,oneafteranother,followingthemwithhiseyesuntiltheydisappeared.

           M.deTreville,afterhavingwrittentheletter,sealedit,andrising,approachedtheyoungmaninordertogiveittohim.Butattheverymomentwhend’Artagnanstretchedouthishandtoreceiveit,M.deTrevillewashighlyastonishedtoseehisprotegemakeasuddenspring,becomecrimsonwithpassion,andrushfromthecabinetcrying,"S’blood,heshallnotescapemethistime!"
