           ‘Orp’raps,’saidtheturnkey,offeringhissuggestionsfromthethetopofhiswell-wornwoodenstool,ashemighthaveofferedthemtoachildforwhoseweaknesshefeltacompassion,‘p’rapsshe’llgetherbrother,orhersister,tocomealongwithher.’

           ‘Shehasnobrotherorsister.’

           ‘Niece,nevy,cousin,serwant,young‘ooman,greengrocer.—Dashit!Oneoranotheron‘em,’saidtheturnkey,repudiatingbeforehandtherefusalofallhissuggestions.

           ‘Ifear—Ihopeitisnotagainsttherules—thatshewillbringthechildren.’

           ‘Thechildren?’saidtheturnkey.‘Andtherules?Why,lordsetyouuplikeacornerpin,we’veareg’larplaygroundo’childrenhere.Children!Whyweswarmwith‘em.
