           IwishIknew—butitisbestfornoonetowritetome—howMrandMrsPlornishprosperinthebusinesswhichmydearfatherboughtforthem,andthatoldMrNandyliveshappilywiththemandhistwograndchildren,andsingsallhissongsoverandoveragain.IcannotquitekeepbackthetearsfrommyeyeswhenIthinkofmypoorMaggy,andoftheblankshemusthavefeltatfirst,howeverkindtheyallaretoher,withoutherLittleMother.Willyougoandtellher,asastrictsecret,withmylove,thatshenevercanhaveregrettedourseparationmorethanIhaveregrettedit?AndwillyoutellthemallthatIhavethoughtofthemeveryday,andthatmyheartisfaithfultothemeverywhere?O,ifyoucouldknowhowfaithful,youwouldalmostpitymeforbeingsofarawayandbeingsogrand!

           Youwillbeglad,Iamsure,toknowthatmydearfatherisverywellinhealth,andthatallthesechangesarehighlybeneficialtohim,andthatheisverydifferentindeedfromwhatheusedtobewhenyouusedtoseehim.
