           ‘Itisthoughtbetterherethatsheshouldliequietto-day,andnotbefatiguedandshakenbytheridedownuntilto-morrow.’

           ‘Withallmyheart.Butyoutalkasifyouhadbeennursingher.Youhaven’tbeenrelapsinginto(MrsGeneralisnothere)intooldhabits,haveyou,Amy?’

           HeaskedherthequestionwithaslyglanceofobservationatMissFanny,andathisfathertoo.
