           Edwardremainedaweekatthecottage;hewasearnestlypressedbyMrs.Dashwoodtostaylonger;but,asifhewerebentonlyonself-mortification,heseemedresolvedtobegonewhenhisenjoymentamonghisfriendswasattheheight.Hisspirits,duringthelasttwoorthreedays,thoughstillveryunequal,weregreatlyimproved—hegrewmoreandmorepartialtothehouseandenvirons—neverspokeofgoingawaywithoutasigh—declaredhistimetobewhollydisengaged—evendoubtedtowhatplaceheshouldgowhenheleftthem—butstill,gohemust.Neverhadanyweekpassedsoquickly—hecouldhardlybelieveittobegone.Hesaidsorepeatedly;otherthingshesaidtoo,whichmarkedtheturnofhisfeelingsandgavethelietohisactions.HehadnopleasureatNorland;hedetestedbeingintown;buteithertoNorlandorLondon,hemustgo.Hevaluedtheirkindnessbeyondanything,andhisgreatesthappinesswasinbeingwiththem.Yet,hemustleavethemattheendofaweek,inspiteoftheirwishesandhisown,andwithoutanyrestraintonhistime.
