           Mariannewasineveryrespectmateriallybetter,andhedeclaredherentirelyoutofdanger.Mrs.Jennings,perhapssatisfiedwiththepartialjustificationofherforebodingswhichhadbeenfoundintheirlatealarm,allowedherselftotrustinhisjudgment,andadmitted,withunfeignedjoy,andsoonwithunequivocalcheerfulness,theprobabilityofanentirerecovery.

           Elinorcouldnotbecheerful.Herjoywasofadifferentkind,andledtoanythingratherthantogaiety.Mariannerestoredtolife,health,friends,andtoherdotingmother,wasanideatofillherheartwithsensationsofexquisitecomfort,andexpanditinferventgratitude;—butitledtonooutwarddemonstrationsofjoy,nowords,nosmiles.AllwithinElinor’sbreastwassatisfaction,silentandstrong.

           Shecontinuedbythesideofhersister,withlittleintermissionthewholeafternoon,calmingeveryfear,satisfyingeveryinquiryofherenfeebledspirits,supplyingeverysuccour,andwatchingalmosteverylookandeverybreath.
