           TheDashwoodsweresoprodigiouslydelightedwiththeMiddletons,that,thoughnotmuchinthehabitofgivinganything,theydeterminedtogivethem—adinner;andsoonaftertheiracquaintancebegan,invitedthemtodineinHarleyStreet,wheretheyhadtakenaverygoodhouseforthreemonths.TheirsistersandMrs.Jenningswereinvitedlikewise,andJohnDashwoodwascarefultosecureColonelBrandon,who,alwaysgladtobewheretheMissDashwoodswere,receivedhiseagercivilitieswithsomesurprise,butmuchmorepleasure.TheyweretomeetMrs.Ferrars;butElinorcouldnotlearnwhetherhersonsweretobeoftheparty.TheexpectationofseeingHER,however,wasenoughtomakeherinterestedintheengagement;forthoughshecouldnowmeetEdward’smotherwithoutthatstronganxietywhichhadoncepromisedtoattendsuchanintroduction,thoughshecouldnowseeherwithperfectindifferenceastoheropinionofherself,herdesireofbeingincompanywithMrs.
