AtonceSchryhart,Merrill,andsomeindividualsconnectedwiththeChicagoWestDivisionCompany,begantocomplaininthenewspaperofficesandattheclubstoRicketts,Braxton,youngMacDonald,andtheothereditors.Envyofthepyrotechnicprogressofthemanwasasmuchafactorinthisasanythingelse.Itdidnotmaketheslightestdifference,asCowperwoodhadsarcasticallypointedout,thateveryothercorporationofanysignificanceinChicagohadaskedandreceivedwithoutmoneyandwithoutprice.
