           WhenCerberusperceivedus,thegreatworm!

           Hismouthsheopened,anddisplayedhistusks;

           Notalimbhadhethatwasmotionless.

           AndmyConductor,withhisspansextended,

           Tookoftheearth,andwithhisfistswellfilled,

           Hethrewitintothoserapaciousgullets.

           Suchasthatdogis,whobybarkingcraves,

           Andquietgrowssoonashisfoodhegnaws,

           Fortodevourithebutthinksandstruggles,

           Thelikebecamethosemuzzlesfilth-begrimed

           OfCerberusthedemon,whosothunders

           Overthesoulsthattheywouldfainbedeaf.

           Wepassedacrosstheshadows,whichsubdues

           Theheavyrain-storm,andweplacedourfeet

           Upontheirvanitythatpersonseems.
