           SirThomaswastoreturninNovember,andhiseldestsonhaddutiestocallhimearlierhome.TheapproachofSeptemberbroughttidingsofMr.Bertram,firstinalettertothegamekeeperandtheninalettertoEdmund;andbytheendofAugusthearrivedhimself,tobegay,agreeable,andgallantagainasoccasionserved,orMissCrawforddemanded;totellofracesandWeymouth,andpartiesandfriends,towhichshemighthavelistenedsixweeksbeforewithsomeinterest,andaltogethertogiveherthefullestconviction,bythepowerofactualcomparison,ofherpreferringhisyoungerbrother.
