Mr.TupmanandMr.Snodgrassweretoomuchaffectedbytheirfriend’sheroismtoofferanyreply.Mr.Winklehadnotyetsufficientlyrecoveredtherecollectionofhisevidenceatthetrial,tomakeanyobservationonanysubject,soMr.Pickwickpausedinvain.
‘Well,’saidthatgentleman,‘ifyouleavemetosuggestourdestination,IsayBath.Ithinknoneofushaveeverbeenthere.’
Nobodyhad;andasthepropositionwaswarmlysecondedbyPerker,whoconsidereditextremelyprobablethatifMr.Pickwicksawalittlechangeandgaietyhewouldbeinclinedtothinkbetterofhisdetermination,andworseofadebtor’sprison,itwascarriedunanimously;andSamwasatoncedespatchedtotheWhiteHorseCellar,totakefiveplacesbythehalf-pastseveno’clockcoach,nextmorning.
