Mr.Pickwick’sindignationduringthewholeofthisproceedingwasbeyondallbounds.HecouldjustseeSamupsettingthespecials,andflyingaboutineverydirection;andthatwasallhecouldsee,forthesedandoorswouldn’topen,andtheblindswouldn’tpullup.Atlength,withtheassistanceofMr.Tupman,hemanagedtopushopentheroof;andmountingontheseat,andsteadyinghimselfaswellashecould,byplacinghishandonthatgentleman’sshoulder,Mr.Pickwickproceededtoaddressthemultitude;todwellupontheunjustifiablemannerinwhichhehadbeentreated;andtocalluponthemtotakenoticethathisservanthadbeenfirstassaulted.Inthisordertheyreachedthemagistrate’shouse;thechairmentrotting,theprisonersfollowing,Mr.Pickwickoratorising,andthecrowdshouting.
