           Thenoiseandbustlewhichusheredinthemorningweresufficienttodispelfromthemindofthemostromanticvisionaryinexistence,anyassociationsbutthosewhichwereimmediatelyconnectedwiththerapidly-approachingelection.Thebeatingofdrums,theblowingofhornsandtrumpets,theshoutingofmen,andtrampingofhorses,echoedandreechoedthroughthestreetsfromtheearliestdawnofday;andanoccasionalfightbetweenthelightskirmishersofeitherpartyatonceenlivenedthepreparations,andagreeablydiversifiedtheircharacter.‘Well,Sam,’saidMr.Pickwick,ashisvaletappearedathisbedroomdoor,justashewasconcludinghistoilet;‘allaliveto-day,Isuppose?’
