           Mr.Pickwickhadbeensoabsorbedinthesereflections,thataknockatthedoorwasthreeorfourtimesrepeatedbeforeheheardit.Hastilyseatinghimself,andcallinguphisaccustomedpleasantlooks,hegavetherequiredpermission,andSamWellerentered,followedbyhisfather.

           ‘Gladtoseeyoubackagain,Sam,’saidMr.Pickwick.‘Howdoyoudo,Mr.Weller?’

           ‘Weryhearty,thank’ee,sir,’repliedthewidower;‘hopeIseeyouwell,sir.’

           ‘Quite,Ithankyou,’repliedMr.Pickwick.

           ‘Iwantedtohavealittlebito’conwersationwithyou,sir,’saidMr.Weller,‘ifyoucouldsparemefiveminitsorso,sir.’

           ‘Certainly,’repliedMr.Pickwick.‘Sam,giveyourfatherachair.’
