Mr.Wellerwasatfirstobstinatelydeterminedoncashingthechequeinnothingbutsovereigns;butitbeingrepresentedbytheumpiresthatbysodoinghemustincurtheexpenseofasmallsacktocarrythemhomein,heconsentedtoreceivetheamountinfive-poundnotes.
