BehindthewallsofthePeloritheValarestablishedtheirdomaininthatregionwhichiscalledValinor,andthereweretheirhouses,theirgardens,andtheirtowers.InthatguardedlandtheValargatheredgreatstoreoflightandanthefairestthingsthatweresavedfromtheruin;andmanyothersyetfairertheymadeanew,andValinorbecamemorebeautifuleventhanMiddle-earthintheSpringofArda;anditwasblessed,fortheDeathlessdweltthere,andtherenaughtfadednorwithered,neitherwasthereanystainuponflowerorleafinthatland,noranycorruptionorsicknessinanythingthatlived;fortheverystonesandwaterswerehallowed.
AndwhenValinorwasfull-wroughtandthemansionsoftheValarwereestablished,inthemidstoftheplainbeyondthemountainstheybuilttheircity,Valmarofmanybells.Beforeitswesterngatetherewasagreenmound,Ezellohar,thatisnamedalsoCorollaire;andYavannahallowedit,andshesattherelonguponthegreengrassandsangasongofpower,inwhichwassetallherthoughtofthingsthatgrowintheearth.ButNiennathoughtinsilence,andwateredthemouldwithtears.InthattimetheValarweregatheredtogethertohearthesongofYavanna,andtheysatsilentupontheirthronesofcouncilintheMahanaxar,theRingofDoomneartothegoldengatesofValmar,andYavannaKementarisangbeforethemandtheywatched.
Andastheywatched,uponthemoundtherecameforthtwoslendershoots;andsilencewasoveralltheworldinthathour,norwasthereanyothersoundsavethechantingofYavanna.Underhersongthesaplingsgrewandbecamefairandtail,andcametoflower;andthusthereawokeintheworldtheTwoTreesofValinor.OfallthingswhichYavannamadetheyhavemostrenown,andabouttheirfateallthetalesoftheElderDaysarewoven.
