ThenlittlethoughhetrustedthewordsofMorgoth,knowingindeedthathewaswithoutpity,Hurintookhisfreedom,andwentforthingrief,embitteredbythewordsoftheDarkLord;andayearwasnowgonesincethedeathofTurinhisson.Fortwenty-eightyearshehadbeencaptiveinAngband,andhewasgrowngrimtolookupon.Hishairandbeardwerewhiteandlong,buthewalkedunbowed,bearingagreatblackstaff;andhewasgirtwithasword.ThushepassedintoHithlum,andtidingscametothechieftainsoftheEasterlingsthattherewasagreatridingofcaptainsandblacksoldiersofAngbandoverthesandsofAnfauglith,andwiththemcameanoldman,asonethatwasheldinhighhonour.
