OthersoftheEldartherewerewhocrossedthemountainsofEredLuininthatageandpassedintotheinnerlands.ManyofthesewereTeleri,survivorsofDoriathandOssiriand;andtheyestablishedrealmsamongtheSilvanElvesinwoodsandmountainsfarfromthesea,forwhichnonethelesstheyeveryearnedintheirhearts.OnlyinEregion,whichMencalledHollin,didElvesofNoldorinraceestablishalastingrealmbeyondtheEredLuin.EregionwasnightothegreatmansionsoftheDwarvesthatwerenamedKhazad-dum,butbytheElvesHadhodrond,andafterwardsMoria.FromOst-in-Edhil,thecityoftheElves,thehighroadrantothewestgateofKhazad-dum,forafriendshiparosebetweenDwarvesandElves,suchashasneverelsewherebeen,totheenrichmentofboththosepeoples.InEregionthecraftsmenoftheGwaith-i-Mirdain,thePeopleoftheJewel-smiths,surpassedincunningallthathaveeverwrought,saveonlyFeanorhimself;andindeedgreatestinskillamongthemwasCelebrimbor,sonofCurufin,whowasestrangedfromhisfatherandremainedinNargothrondwhenCelegormandCurufinweredrivenforth,asistoldintheQuentaSilmarillion.
