ButthefleetsofAr-PharazoncameupoutofthedeepsoftheseaandencompassedAvalloneandalltheisleofEressea,andtheEldarmourned,forthelightofthesettingsunwascutoffbythecloudoftheNumenoreans.AndatlastAr-PharazoncameeventoAman,theBlessedRealm,andthecoastsofValinor;andstillallwassilent,anddoomhungbyathread.ForAr-Pharazonwaveredattheend,andalmostheturnedback.HisheartmisgavehimwhenhelookeduponthesoundlessshoresandsawTaniquetilshining,whiterthansnow,colderthandeath,silent,immutable,terribleastheshadowofthelightofIluvatar.Butpridewasnowhismaster,andatlasthelefthisshipandstrodeupontheshore,claimingthelandforhisown,ifnoneshoulddobattleforit.AndahostoftheNumenoreansencampedinmightaboutTuna,whencealltheEldarhadfled.
