AtthebiddingofEctheliontrumpetswereblownonthetowersofthegreatgate,andtheyechoedinthehills;andfaroffbutcleartherecameasoundofansweringtrumpetsblownuponthewhitewallsofthecity,flushedwiththeroseofdawnupontheplain.
ThusitwasthatthesonofHuorrodeacrossTumladen,andcametothegateofGondolin;andpassingupthewidestairwaysofthecityhewasbroughtatlasttotheToweroftheKing,andlookedupontheimagesoftheTreesofValinor.ThenTuorstoodbeforeTurgonsonofFingolfin,HighKingoftheNoldor,andupontheKing’srighthandtherestoodMaeglinhissister-son,butuponhislefthandsatIdrilCelebrindalhisdaughter;andallthatheardthevoiceofTuormarvelled,doubtingthatthiswereintruthaManofmortalrace,forhiswordswerethewordsoftheLordofWatersthatcametohiminthathour.AndhegavewarningtoTurgonthattheCurseofMandosnowhastenedtoitsfulfilment,whenalltheworksoftheNoldorshouldperish;andhebadehimdepart,andabandonthefairandmightycitythathehadbuilt,andgodownSiriontothesea.
