Fingolfin,asKingofalltheNoldor,sentmessengersofwelcometothem;andthenmanyyoungandeagermenoftheEdainwentawayandtookservicewiththe.kingsandlordsoftheEldar.AmongthemwasMalachsonofMarach,andhedweltinHithlumforfourteenyears;andhelearnedtheElven-tongueandwasgiventhenameofAradan.
TheEdaindidnotlongdwellcontentinEstolad,formanystilldesiredtogowestward;buttheydidnotknowtheway.
