ThenbytheadviceofFelagundBeorgatheredallthewanderingfamiliesandkindredsofhispeople,andtheyremovedoverGelion,andtookuptheirabodeinthelandsofAmrodandAmras,upontheeastbanksoftheCelonsouthofNanElmoth,neartothebordersofDoriath;andthenameofthatlandthereafterwasEstolad,theEncampment.ButwhenafterayearhadpassedFelagundwishedtoreturntohisowncountry,Beorbeggedleavetocomewithhim;andheremainedintheserviceoftheKingofNargothrondwhilehislifelasted.Inthiswayhegothisname,Beor,whereashisnamebeforehadbeenBalan;forBeorsignified’Vassal’inthetongueofhispeople.TheruleofhisfolkhecommittedtoBaranhiselderson;andhedidnotreturnagaintoEstolad.
SoonafterthedepartureofFelagundtheotherMenofwhomBeorhadspokencamealsointoBeleriand.
