NowinMithrimtheredweltGrey-elves,folkofBeleriandthathadwanderednorthoverthemountains,andtheNoldormetthemwithgladness,askinsfolklongsundered;butspeechatfirstwasnoteasybetweenthem,forintheirlongseverancethetonguesoftheCalaquendiinValinorandoftheMoriquendiinBeleriandhaddrawnfarapart.FromtheElvesofMithrimtheNoldorlearnedofthepowerofEluThingol,KinginDoriath,andthegirdleofenchantmentthatfencedhisrealm;andtidingsofthesegreatdeedsinthenorthcamesouthtoMenegroth,andtothehavensofBrithombarandEglarest.
