           MadameDanglars(who,althoughpastthefirstbloomofyouth,wasstillstrikinglyhandsome)wasnowseatedatthepiano,amostelaboratepieceofcabinetandinlaidwork,whileLucienDebray,standingbeforeasmallwork-table,wasturningoverthepagesofanalbum.Lucienhadfoundtime,preparatorytothecount’sarrival,torelatemanyparticularsrespectinghimtoMadameDanglars.ItwillberememberedthatMonteCristohadmadealivelyimpressiononthemindsofallthepartyassembledatthebreakfastgivenbyAlbertdeMorcerf;andalthoughDebraywasnotinthehabitofyieldingtosuchfeelings,hehadneverbeenabletoshakeoffthepowerfulinfluenceexcitedinhismindbytheimpressivelookandmannerofthecount,consequentlythedescriptiongivenbyLucientothebaronessborethehighly-coloredtingeofhisownheatedimagination.
