OftheThreeRingsthattheElveshadpreservedunsulliednoopenwordwaseverspokenamongtheWise,andfewevenoftheEldarknewwheretheywerebestowed.YetafterthefallofSaurontheirpowerwaseveratwork,andwheretheyabodetheremirthalsodweltandallthingswereunstainedbythegriefsoftime.ThereforeeretheThirdAgewasendedtheElvesperceivedthattheRingofSapphirewaswithElrond,inthefairvalleyofRivendell,uponwhosehousethestarsofheavenmostbrightlyshone;whereastheRingofAdamantwasintheLandofLorienwheredwelttheLadyGaladriel.AqueenshewasofthewoodlandElves,thewifeofCelebornofDoriath,yetsheherselfwasoftheNoldorandrememberedtheDaybeforedaysinValinor,andshewasthemightiestandfairestofalltheElvesthatremainedinMiddle-earth.ButtheRedRingremainedhiddenuntiltheend,andnonesaveElrondandGaladrielandCirdanknewtowhomithadbeencommitted.
ThusitwasthatintwodomainstheblissandbeautyoftheElvesremainedstillundiminishedwhilethatAgeendured:inImladris;andinLothlorien,thehiddenlandbetweenCelebrantandAnduin,wherethetreesboreflowersofgoldandnoOrcorevilthingdaredevercome.
