Theretheydwelt,andiftheywishedtheycouldseethelightoftheTrees,andcouldtreadthegoldenstreetsofValmarandthecrystalstairsofTirionuponTuna,thegreenhill;butmostofalltheysailedintheirswiftshipsonthewatersoftheBayofElvenhome,orwalkedinthewavesupontheshorewiththeirhairgleaminginthelightbeyondthehill.ManyjewelstheNoldorgavethem,opalsanddiamondsandpalecrystals,whichtheystrewedupontheshoresandscatteredinthepools;marvellouswerethebeachesofElendeinthosedays.Andmanypearlstheywonforthemselvesfromthesea,andtheirhallswereofpearl,andofpearlwerethemansionsofOlweatAlqualonde,theHavenoftheSwans,litwithmanylamps.Forthatwastheircity,andthehavenoftheirships;andthoseweremadeinthelikenessofswans,withbeaksofgoldandeyesofgoldandjet.Thegateofthatharbourwasanarchoflivingrocksea-carved;anditlayupontheconfinesofEldamar,northoftheCalacirya,wherethelightofthestarswasbrightandclear.
AstheagespassedtheVanyargrewtolovethelandoftheValarandthefulllightoftheTrees,andtheyforsookthecityofTirionuponTuna,anddweltthereafteruponthemountainofManwe,orabouttheplainsandwoodsofValinor,andbecamesunderedfromtheNoldor.
