ForinthosedaystheNumenoreanswerefar-sighted;yetevensoitwasonlythekeenesteyesamongthemthatcouldseethisvision,fromtheMeneltarma,maybe,orfromsometallshipthatlayofftheirwesterncoastasfarasitwaslawfulforthemtogo.FortheydidnotdaretobreaktheBanoftheLordsoftheWest.ButthewiseamongthemknewthatthisdistantlandwasnotindeedtheBlessedRealmofValinor,butwasAvallone,thehavenoftheEldaruponEressea,easternmostoftheUndyingLands.AndthenceattimestheFirstbornstillwouldcomesailingtoNumenorinoarlessboats,aswhitebirdsflyingfromthesunset.AndtheybroughttoNumenormanygifts:birdsofsong,andfragrantflowers,andherbsofgreatvirtue.AndaseedlingtheybroughtofCeleborn,theWhiteTreethatgrewinthemidstofEressea;andthatwasinitsturnaseedlingofGalathiliontheTreeofTuna,theimageofTelperionthatYavannagavetotheEldarintheBlessedRealm.
