YetnotalltheEldaliewerewillingtoforsaketheHitherLandswheretheyhadlongsufferedandlongdwelt;andsomelingeredmanyanageinMiddle-earth.AmongthosewereCirdantheShipwright,andCelebornofDoriath,withGaladrielhiswife,whoaloneremainedofthosewholedtheNoldortoexileinBeleriand.InMiddle-earthdweltalsoGil-galadtheHighKing,andwithhimwasElrondHalf-elven,whochose,aswasgrantedtohim,tobenumberedamongtheEldar;butElroshisbrotherchosetoabidewithMen.AndfromthesebrethrenalonehascomeamongMenthebloodoftheFirstbornandastrainofthespiritsdivinethatwerebeforeArda;fortheywerethesonsofElwing,Dior’sdaughter,Luthien’sson,childofThingolandMelian;andEarendiltheirfatherwasthesonofIdrilCelebrindal,Turgon’sdaughterofGondolin.
