ButtherealmofNargothrondextendedalsowestofNarogtotheRiverNenning,thatreachedtheseaatEglarest;andFinrodbecametheoverlordofalltheElvesofBeleriandbetweenSirionandthesea,saveonlyintheFalas.TheredweltthoseoftheSindarwhostilllovedships,andCirdantheshipbuilderwastheirlord;butbetweenCirdanandFinrodtherewasfriendshipandalliance,andwiththeaidoftheNoldorthehavensofBrithombarandEglarestwerebuiltanew.Behindtheirgreatwallstheybecamefairtownsandharbourswithquaysandpiersofstone.
UponthecapewestofEglarestFinrodraisedthetowerofBaradNimrastowatchthewesternsea,thoughneedlessly,asitproved;foratnotimeeverdidMorgothessaytobuildshipsortomakewarbysea.
