OfthemarchofthehostoftheValartothenorthofMiddle-earthlittleissaidinanytale;foramongthemwentnoneofthoseElveswhohaddweltandsufferedintheHitherLands,andwhomadethehistoriesofthosedaysthatstillareknown;andtidingsofthesethingstheyonlylearnedlongafterwardsfromtheirkinsfolkinAman.ButatthelastthemightofValinorcameupoutoftheWest,andthechallengeofthetrumpetsofEonwefilledthesky;andBeleriandwasablazewiththegloryoftheirarms,forthehostoftheValarwerearrayedinformsyoungandfairandterrible,andthemountainsrangbeneaththeirfeet.
ThemeetingofthehostsoftheWestandoftheNorthisnamedtheGreatBattle,andtheWarofWrath.TherewasmarshalledthewholepoweroftheThroneofMorgoth,andithadbecomegreatbeyondcount,sothatAnfauglithcouldnotcontainit;andalltheNorthwasaflamewithwar.
