Butnowizardrynorspell,neitherfangnorvenom,nordevil’sartnorbeast-strength,couldoverthrowHuanwithoutforsakinghisbodyutterly.Erehisfoulspiritleftitsdarkhouse,Luthiencametohim,ghostbesentquakingbacktoMorgoth;andshesaid:’Thereeverlastinglythynakedselfshallendurethetormentofhisscorn,piercedbyhiseyes,unlessthouyieldtomethemasteryofthytower.’
ThenSauronyieldedhimself,andLuthientookthemasteryoftheisleandallthatwasthere;andHuanreleasedhim.Andimmediatelyhetooktheformofavampire,greatasadarkcloudacrossthemoon,andhefled,drippingbloodfromhisthroatuponthetrees,andcametoTar-nu-Fuin,anddweltthere,fillingitwithhorror.
