           AndMorgothtookthebodyoftheElven-kingandbrokeit,andwouldcastittohiswolves;butThorondorcamehastingfromhiseyrieamongthepeaksoftheCrissaegrim,andhestoopeduponMorgothandmarredhisface.TherushingofthewingsofThorondorwaslikethenoiseofthewindsofManwe,andheseizedthebodyinhismightytalons,andsoaringsuddenlyabovethedartsoftheOrcsheboretheKingaway.Andhelaidhimuponamountain-topthatlookedfromthenorthuponthehiddenvalleyofGondolin;andTurgoncomingbuiltahighcairnoverhisfather.NoOrcdaredeveraftertopassoverthemountofFingolfinordrawnighhistomb,untilthedoomofGondolinwascomeandtreacherywasbornamonghiskin.Morgothwenteverhaltofonefootafterthatday,andthepainofhiswoundscouldnotbehealed;andinhisfacewasthescarthatThorondormade.

           GreatwasthelamentationinHithlumwhenthefallofFingolfinbecameknown,andFingoninsorrowtookthelordshipofthehouseofFingolfinandthekingdomoftheNoldor;buthisyoungsonEreinion(whowasafternamedGil-galad)hesenttotheHavens.

           NowMorgoth’spowerovershadowedtheNorthlands;butBarahirwouldnotfleefromDorthonion,andremainedcontestingthelandfootbyfootwithhisenemies.
