Myaunt,beinguncommonlyneatandingenious,madesomanylittleimprovementsinourdomesticarrangements,thatIseemedtobericherinsteadofpoorer.Amongtherest,sheconvertedthepantryintoadressing-roomforme;andpurchasedandembellishedabedsteadformyoccupation,whichlookedaslikeabookcaseinthedaytimeasabedsteadcould.Iwastheobjectofherconstantsolicitude;andmypoormotherherselfcouldnothavelovedmebetter,orstudiedmorehowtomakemehappy.
Peggottyhadconsideredherselfhighlyprivilegedinbeingallowedtoparticipateintheselabours;and,althoughshestillretainedsomethingofheroldsentimentofaweinreferencetomyaunt,hadreceivedsomanymarksofencouragementandconfidence,thattheywerethebestfriendspossible.
