           Itwasyetearlyinthemorningofthefollowingday,when,asIwaswalkinginmygardenwithmyaunt(whotooklittleotherexercisenow,beingsomuchinattendanceonmydearDora),IwastoldthatMr.Peggottydesiredtospeakwithme.Hecameintothegardentomeetmehalf-way,onmygoingtowardsthegate;andbaredhishead,asitwasalwayshiscustomtodowhenhesawmyaunt,forwhomhehadahighrespect.Ihadbeentellingherallthathadhappenedovernight.Withoutsayingaword,shewalkedupwithacordialface,shookhandswithhim,andpattedhimonthearm.Itwassoexpressivelydone,thatshehadnoneedtosayaword.Mr.Peggottyunderstoodherquiteaswellasifshehadsaidathousand.

           ‘I’llgoinnow,Trot,’saidmyaunt,‘andlookafterLittleBlossom,whowillbegettinguppresently.’

           ‘Byyourleave,ma’am,’returnedMr.Peggotty,‘Ishouldtakeitkind,pervisingyoudoen’tmindmyclicketten,ifyou’dbideheer.’

           ‘Wouldyou?’saidmyaunt,withshortgood-nature.‘ThenIamsureIwill!’
