           Myeyes,however,notbeingsomuchundercontrolasmytongue,wereattractedtowardsmyauntveryoftenduringbreakfast.InevercouldlookatherforafewmomentstogetherbutIfoundherlookingatmeinanoddthoughtfulmanner,asifIwereanimmensewayoff,insteadofbeingontheothersideofthesmallroundtable.Whenshehadfinishedherbreakfast,myauntverydeliberatelyleanedbackinherchair,knittedherbrows,foldedherarms,andcontemplatedmeatherleisure,withsuchafixednessofattentionthatIwasquiteoverpoweredbyembarrassment.Nothavingasyetfinishedmyownbreakfast,Iattemptedtohidemyconfusionbyproceedingwithit;butmyknifetumbledovermyfork,myforktrippedupmyknife,Ichippedbitsofbaconasurprisingheightintotheairinsteadofcuttingthemformyowneating,andchokedmyselfwithmytea,whichpersistedingoingthewrongwayinsteadoftherightone,untilIgaveinaltogether,andsatblushingundermyaunt’sclosescrutiny.
