Itwasbetweentenandeleveno’clockwhenMrs.Micawberrosetoreplacehercapinthewhitey-brownpaperparcel,andtoputonherbonnet.Mr.MicawbertooktheopportunityofTraddlesputtingonhisgreat-coat,toslipaletterintomyhand,withawhisperedrequestthatIwouldreaditatmyleisure.Ialsotooktheopportunityofmyholdingacandleoverthebanisterstolightthemdown,whenMr.Micawberwasgoingfirst,leadingMrs.Micawber,andTraddleswasfollowingwiththecap,todetainTraddlesforamomentonthetopofthestairs.
