           Asshepressedmetostaytodinner,Iremained,andIbelievewetalkedaboutnothingbuthimallday.ItoldherhowmuchthepeoplelikedhimatYarmouth,andwhatadelightfulcompanionhehadbeen.MissDartlewasfullofhintsandmysteriousquestions,buttookagreatinterestinallourproceedingsthere,andsaid,‘Wasitreallythough?’andsoforth,sooften,thatshegoteverythingoutofmeshewantedtoknow.HerappearancewasexactlywhatIhavedescribedit,whenIfirstsawher;butthesocietyofthetwoladieswassoagreeable,andcamesonaturaltome,thatIfeltmyselffallingalittleinlovewithher.Icouldnothelpthinking,severaltimesinthecourseoftheevening,andparticularlywhenIwalkedhomeatnight,whatdelightfulcompanyshewouldbeinBuckinghamStreet.

           Iwastakingmycoffeeandrollinthemorning,beforegoingtotheCommonsandImayobserveinthisplacethatitissurprisinghowmuchcoffeeMrs.Cruppused,andhowweakitwas,consideringwhenSteerforthhimselfwalkedin,tomyunboundedjoy.
