Andhereagain,Ihadgreatmisgivings.Ifoundasprevalentafashionintheformofthepenitence,asIhadleftoutsideintheformsofthecoatsandwaistcoatsinthewindowsofthetailors’shops.Ifoundavastamountofprofession,varyingverylittleincharacter:varyingverylittle(whichIthoughtexceedinglysuspicious),eveninwords.Ifoundagreatmanyfoxes,disparagingwholevineyardsofinaccessiblegrapes;butIfoundveryfewfoxeswhomIwouldhavetrustedwithinreachofabunch.
